Strictly BallinTASF Film Screening

The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation is calling for young innovative filmmakers to submit their best work for inclusion in the 1st Semi-annual Tupac Amaru Shakur Film Screening scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 10, 2007 from 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts located at 5616 Memorial Drive, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.

Headlining this exciting premiere event is “The Hip Hop Project”- a documentary which was executive produced by renowned actor Bruce Willis and actress/rapper Queen Latifah. The film is a compelling story of Kazi, a former homeless teenager who inspires a group of New York teens to transform their life stories into powerful works of art, using hip hop as a vehicle for self-development and personal discovery. In contrast to all the negative attention focused on hip hop, it is a story of hope, healing and the realization of dreams. “The Hip Hop Project” has been described by Variety as “irresistibly uplifting” and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. Additionally, the screening will show other previously released, unreleased films, and documentaries by today’s most cutting edge and stimulating new film makers.

To have a film considered for the screening amongst this impressive rooster of talent, film students either individually or in a group, are invited to submit their work for the “Selective Choice” film section. Participants are required to send in a completed film, 90 minutes or less, with a PG-13 rating or lower (ie. PG). There is a $35.00 non-refundable processing fee. A jury of established professionals will assemble to review and judge the entries submitted and vote for the one film to be screened in the “Selective Choice” category. The winning student or team who created the film will have a unique opportunity to speak to the audience about their work at the end of the showing.

TASF’s next film screening event will occur in October 10, 2007

Please visit http://www.TASF.org/ to download an application form and view the official rules and requirements. Deadline for film submissions must be postmarked by February 23. For more information or enquiries, contact Dina Tyler at dinatyler@2paclegacy.com.
